Except where noted below, The Superior Court of Washington for Cowlitz County does not collect or record information which can directly identify users visiting this website. Our web server records only certain summary information about your visit to help us better understand how people use the site with a view to identifying areas for improvement. This information may include:

  • The type of browser you are using and your operating system
  • The network (IP) address of your computer and your top level domain name
  • The address of any referring website
  • The date and time of your visit
  • The pages accessed and files downloaded
  • Any search terms you enter

Email addresses & Other Voluntarily Provided Personal Information

If you send us a message via an online form on the website we will record your email address to be used only for the purpose for which you provide it. We will not add it to a mailing list or use it for any other purpose without your prior consent. If you subscribe to one of our mailing lists, we will not add you to any lists you have not subscribed to, nor sell or redistribute your email address to third parties. The Superior Court will only use voluntarily submitted personal information for its intended purpose and in an effort to assist you in providing the information or service requested.

The  Superior  Court generally discourages visitors from submitting personally identifiable information (i.e. full name, address, social security number, etc.) however, visitors choosing to do so acknowledge that clicking the "submit" button on various forms and emails constitutes consent to use the information for the stated purpose.
With the exception of official law enforcement investigations stemming from unauthorized use of Superior Court information systems, congruent with the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986 and the National Information Infrastructure Protection Act of 1996, no further attempts are made to identify individual users or their browsing habits.
