About
Judge Michael Evans graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree from Brigham Young University and received his law degree from Seattle University School of Law (cum laude).
Prior to taking the bench, Judge Evans served as a deputy prosecuting attorney for Cowlitz County in both criminal and civil matters and practiced privately in criminal defense, family law, and civil litigation.
As District Court judge, with the support of many community members, he created and ran Cowlitz County's first mental health court.
Outside of court, Judge Evans is a member of the Ethics Committee of the Superior Court Judges Association, a member of the Ethics Advisory Committee, a member of the Commission on Judicial Conduct, and former ethics faculty for the Judicial College.
For 2019-2020, Judge Evans served as Assistant Presiding Judge, and currently serves as Juvenile Presiding Judge.
